God’s Light in Our Darkness

By Elaine & Russell M. Morrow, Sr.

Today’s Scriptures:

“My grace is sufficient for you, for My power is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinthians 12:9).

“The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” (Deuteronomy 31:8).

Thought for the Day:

When shadows fall, God’s light will break through.

Devotional Message:

One afternoon, I sat by the window and noticed how the sunlight streamed through the blinds. The light alternated with shadows in a rhythmic pattern: darkness, then light. Darkness, then light. As I watched, it struck me that this reflected life.

We all experience times of darkness—trials, struggles, and moments when hope feels far away. As Christians, it can sometimes feel like these struggles weigh even more heavily on us. Yet, we are not without hope. God’s Word reminds us that His grace is sufficient for all we face. His power shines most clearly in our weakest moments.

The alternating shadows and light reminded me that God is always present, even in our darkest hours. Just as the light inevitably breaks through the blinds, God’s deliverance comes to us in His perfect timing. We may not always see the way forward, but we can trust in His promise to never leave or forsake us.

Remember that the darkness will not last forever regardless of what you are going through today. God’s light will guide you through, giving you strength, peace, and hope.

Prayer:

Loving God, thank You for always being with me, especially during times of struggle. Help me to trust Your timing and lean on Your grace. Let Your light shine brightly in my life and lead me through every shadow into victory. Amen.

Closing Thought:

God’s grace is sufficient for every trial, and His light will never fail to guide us through the darkness. Trust Him today.

Prayer Focus: Someone who feels overwhelmed by life’s trials.
