The River In You
Today’s Message of Hope, Deliverance, and Victory Devotional
Scripture Focus:
“Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.”
—John 7:38 (NIV)
Reflection: The River in You
Have you ever watched a river in motion? It flows with purpose, cutting through land, nourishing soil, shaping valleys, and bringing life wherever it moves. It does not sit still. It does not ask permission. It moves. It blesses. It changes things.
That is precisely how the Spirit of God is meant to work in us.
This week’s lectionary scriptures remind us that the resurrection is not a one-time event—it is a living stream of life. In Acts 9, Peter appears, and life returns to a grieving community when Tabitha is raised. In Psalm 23, the Shepherd leads us beside still waters. Revelation 7 paints a picture of a future where the Lamb leads us to eternal springs. And in John 10, Jesus assures us that nothing can snatch us from His hand—we are secure in the stream of His infinite love.
But the key truth is this:
The river doesn’t stop with you—it flows through you.
God’s Spirit equips us to be a healing presence in the world.
To speak up for justice.
To extend grace.
To offer mercy.
To quench someone else’s thirst.
Life Application: Where Can the River Flow Today?
Ask yourself:
-
Who in my life is dry with grief or fear?
-
Where can I be a voice of mercy or an agent of healing?
-
How can I let grace flow in a complex relationship or situation?
Start with one act of compassion, one prayer of intercession, one offering of justice. Let the river move—step by step, person by person.
