Seeing the Whole Picture
Seeing the Whole Picture
By Dr. Russell M. Morrow
Scripture Reading
“Beloved, now we are children of God, and it has not yet appeared what we shall be. But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.” — 1 John 3:2
Reflection / Meditation
One of the joys our family shares is working on jigsaw puzzles. Each piece is small and often confusing on its own. But when fitted together, they form a beautiful whole. Life is much the same. Each day brings experiences—lessons in self-respect, discipline, relationships, successes, and failures. At times, these lessons seem scattered or irrelevant. But over time, God reveals how each piece belongs to a greater picture.
The Apostle John reminds us that we are God’s children right now, yet the full picture of who we shall be is not yet revealed. The unfinished puzzle of our lives may leave us with questions and frustrations, but the promise remains: when Christ appears, the picture will be complete, and we shall reflect His likeness.
Practical Application
-
When life feels scattered, remember that God sees the whole puzzle while you only see the pieces.
-
Trust that even the difficult or confusing pieces of your journey have a place in God’s design.
-
Take time each day to step back from the “pieces” and reflect on the bigger picture—who God is shaping you to become.
Closing Prayer
Lord, thank You for making me Your child. Even when I don’t see how today’s struggles and lessons fit, remind me that You are putting the pieces together for a greater picture. Help me to be patient, to trust Your timing, and to look with hope toward the day when I shall see Christ face to face and be made like Him. Amen.
